Ghana Medical Trust Fund expands healthcare access through new partnerships
The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) is expanding its reach through new institutional partnerships and religious support to improve healthcare access for citizens with chronic non-communicable diseases.
The Christian Council of Ghana has pledged its full support for the GMTF, committing to use its network of churches and congregations to raise awareness and encourage donations. Executive Secretary Rev Dr Cyril G. K. Fayose stated that the Council would stand with the Fund to help provide life-saving treatment for those unable to afford critical medical care.
Additionally, the GMTF has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre. This partnership aims to expand access to specialized cancer services, including radiotherapy and PET scan services. GMTF Administrator Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku noted that the agreement is designed to reduce financial barriers that prevent patients from accessing essential diagnosis and treatment.
