Ghana Ministry of Health transfers 30 ambulances for refurbishment

The Ghana Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the National Ambulance Service (NAS), has handed over 30 ambulances to National Security for refurbishment. The vehicles, currently stationed at the Ghana Air Force Base at Burma Camp in Accra, are being assessed for potential reintegration into the national emergency response fleet.

The transfer follows legal clearance from the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice, authorizing the retrieval and assessment of the vehicles. An initial inspection has been conducted by the State Transport Company (STC). National Security will oversee the refurbishment process, after which the ambulances must undergo technical checks and roadworthiness certifications before they can be deployed for operational use.

This initiative is part of a government effort to recover and restore public assets to strengthen the operational capacity of the NAS and improve access to timely pre-hospital emergency care across the country.
