Daddy Lumba's burial site disclosed as family marks first anniversary

Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba (Charles Kwadwo Fosu) died on 26 July 2025 at The Bank Hospital in Accra after a brief illness, aged 60. One year later his family held a private memorial at his East Legon residence, revealing the location of his burial on a parcel of land he had selected before his death. A black‑marble tomb inside a private mausoleum within the compound was shown for the first time, ending months of public speculation.

During the ceremony traditional widowhood rites were performed for his second wife, Odo Broni, who also unveiled a portrait tattoo reading “Forever in My Heart”. The family introduced cousin Ebenezer Fosu as the interim representative while succession discussions continue. Fellow musicians and friends, including rapper Sarkodie, posted emotional tributes, and relatives poured libations at the gravesite.

The event highlighted the enduring cultural impact of Daddy Lumba, whose four‑decade career produced more than 30 albums and shaped Ghanaian highlife music.
