Henry Nana Boakye launches bid for NPP National First Vice Chairman

Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of Ghana's New Patriotic Party (NPP), announced his intention to contest the party’s National First Vice Chairman position ahead of the upcoming internal elections. In a statement he said the move is driven by a sense of duty to help rebuild the party after its 2024 electoral defeat and to prepare it for a stronger showing in the 2028 general election.

Boakye highlighted more than two decades of service, beginning as a polling‑station agent in the 2000 elections, then serving as polling‑station chairman in Tarkwa‑Nsuaem and Oforikrom, and holding various constituency campaign roles. He also led the party’s student wing as TESCON president at the University of Mines and Technology and KNUST, contributed to Ashanti regional communications and campaign teams, and occupied senior national posts including National Youth Organiser, member of the National Communications Team, and participant in the 2020 and 2024 presidential election petition legal team. His candidacy is positioned as a pledge to strengthen party structures, reconnect with grassroots members, and support the NPP’s bid to return to government in 2028.
