Ghana Narcotics Commission denies cocaine suspect was presidential guard

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has denied claims that suspects arrested in connection with a major cocaine seizure in Dunkirk were linked to the security details of Ghana’s top leadership.

Deputy Director-General Alexander Twum-Barimah clarified that background checks conducted on the suspects, including Musah Attah (also known as ‘Kromo’), showed no connection to the security teams of President John Dramani Mahama or Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang. According to NACOC records, Attah is identified as a farmer rather than a member of any presidential protection unit.

The clarification follows social media speculation and the circulation of photographs appearing to show Attah in close proximity to the President and Vice President. Twum-Barimah, drawing on his own experience as a trained presidential security officer, noted that security details for the President and Vice President operate in separate groups and that the evidence does not support the allegations of a security link.
