Ghana National Fire Service manages fuel tanker and house fire incidents

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to two separate incidents in the Eastern Region, involving a fuel tanker and a domestic fire.

In Osubetor, Tinkong, a MAN fuel tanker carrying approximately 54,000 litres of petrol became immobilized on the Osubetor Bridge due to a suspected mechanical fault. Firefighters and the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) secured the site. While no fuel leakage, contamination, or fire was detected, crews applied cooling measures as a precaution to prevent a disaster.

In a separate incident at Mission Quarters in Larteh Akuapem, a fire broke out in a single-room residence. Residents extinguished the blaze with water before the GNFS arrived. Although some belongings, including clothes and blankets, were destroyed, no casualties were reported. The cause and total cost of the Larteh fire are currently undetermined.
