Ghana NDC faces internal disputes over election oversight and MP harassment allegations

The youth organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Lower Manya Krobo, Godwin Oblanda A. D. Totroku, said he had no role in a press conference that called for the removal of Alhaji Sumaila Mahama, the Eastern Regional Representative supervising the constituency’s branch elections. He urged party matters to be handled through formal petitions to the Constituency Elections Committee and the National Executive Committee, warning that public press engagements could deepen party divisions.

Separately, a controversy has erupted after a WhatsApp voice note allegedly captured NDC chairman Stephen Ofosu Agyare claiming a romantic relationship and intimate encounters with MP Hon. Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor. The alleged remarks have sparked calls for a transparent investigation, criticism of the party leadership’s silence, and demands for accountability from the NDC Women’s Wing and Parliament’s Women’s Caucus.

Both incidents highlight internal tensions within the NDC as it prepares for upcoming elections and faces scrutiny over its handling of disciplinary matters.
