Ghana Police arrest suspect in murder of Dr Jesse Amuah and wife

The Ghana Police Service has arrested Abraham Awondok, 32, in connection with the murder of Dr Jesse Amuah and his wife, Elizabeth Esi Amuah. Awondok, who previously served as an errand boy for the couple, allegedly murdered them in March 2026 before fleeing Ghana with their mobile phones, money, and private vehicle.

Following the disappearance, the couple's remains were discovered in April. After being declared wanted via an INTERPOL Red Notice, Awondok was located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He was deported to Ghana on August 30 by investigators from the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit and INTERPOL. During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to the killings and remains in police custody as investigations continue.

Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno announced the arrest as part of a series of operational breakthroughs involving various criminal cases, including armed robbery and illegal firearms, across several regions.
