Ghana police arrest two in connection with murder of 11-year-old girl

The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two men, Kingsley Ozor, 40, and his apprentice, Jeffery Otaigbe, 19, following the suspected murder and sexual assault of 11-year-old Blessing Innocent in Gomoa Buduburam.

The victim’s mother reported her missing on Monday, October 19, 2026, after she had been absent since Saturday, October 17. Investigations revealed the girl was last seen visiting the suspects, who were neighbors of the deceased, at approximately 8:30 a.m. on the day she disappeared.

Police stated that during interrogation, the suspects admitted the girl had been with them. Investigators allege that Otaigbe lured the child into an unfinished building near an estate community, where he sexually abused her before discovering she was deceased. Otaigbe reportedly led officers to a location where the body was concealed under shrubs.

The body was transported to the morgue at St. Gregory Catholic Hospital, and an autopsy is being arranged at the Police Hospital to determine the cause of death. Both men remain in police custody.
