Ghana Police Arrest 186 in Ashanti Region Human‑Trafficking and Drug Crackdown

Between 8 and 17 June 2026 Ghana’s Inspector‑General special operations team, working with the Ashanti Regional Police Command, carried out a coordinated intelligence‑led raid across eight districts of the Ashanti Region. The operation resulted in the arrest of 186 suspects – 86 Ghanaians, 96 Nigerians and four Togolese – accused of running a trans‑national network involved in human trafficking, sexual exploitation, drug smuggling and other organised crimes.

Key arrests included Gladys Ibrahim, known as “Mama Gee”, detained on 9 June in Kenyase Aframa. Police seized large quantities of suspected cannabis, tramadol, ecstasy, amphetamine tablets and cocaine, along with other controlled substances. Several victims, including children, were rescued and placed under child‑welfare protection, while foreign‑national victims were handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service for repatriation.

All seized items have been secured for forensic analysis and the suspects have been arraigned in court. Police officials said the crackdown demonstrates a sustained commitment to dismantling criminal networks that threaten community safety across Ghana and the wider West African region.
