Ghana Police promote Inspector Hance Atubra for firefighting bravery

Inspector Hance Atubra of the Tarkwa Divisional Police Headquarters has been promoted to the rank of Chief Inspector following his heroic actions during a fire at the Aboso Main Lorry Station in the Western Region.

During the fire outbreak on August 26, 2026, Atubra was among the first responders on the scene. He actively assisted in evacuating victims from the danger zone and helped control the blaze, which had engulfed several shops and threatened lives.

His actions prompted local youths in Aboso to organize a public procession, carrying the officer through the town to demand official recognition for his bravery. In response to the incident and the subsequent public outcry, Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno approved the promotion to recognize Atubra’s courage, promptness, and commitment to protecting lives and property.
