Ghana Police recover 11 AK-47 rifles in nationwide crime crackdown

The Ghana Police Service has reported seven major breakthroughs following a nationwide intelligence-led operation targeting violent crime, including robbery gangs, murder suspects, and illegal weapons traffickers.

Inspector General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno stated that the operations resulted in several arrests and the recovery of 11 AK-47 rifles, one pump-action gun, and 357 rounds of ammunition. The crackdown addressed various criminal activities, including attacks on banks, motorists, and gold dealers.

Specific successes include the arrest of a suspect linked to the murder of Dr. Jesse Amuah and Mrs. Elizabeth Amuah Esi, as well as the dismantling of a robbery gang active in the Wassa Akropong and Manso enclave areas. Additionally, police detained an alleged mastermind behind a robbery at the Buipe Cattle Market.
