Ghana Police to launch automated TRAFFITECH-GH traffic enforcement
The Ghana Police Service, through its Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), will begin the full implementation of TRAFFITECH-GH on October 1, 2026. This automated traffic law enforcement system is designed to curb road indiscipline and improve compliance with traffic regulations across the country.
The system utilizes advanced technology, including cameras and Personal Data Assistant (PDA) devices, to detect traffic offenses. Once an offense is detected, it will undergo a verification process. Following review, Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) will be sent to vehicle owners or drivers via SMS, detailing the specific offense and the required fine.
The police service has called on motorists and vehicle owners to cooperate with the new scheme to help promote safer roads and reduce traffic-related crashes and casualties.
