Ghana prepares US$10bn economic transformation plan
Ghanaian Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has called on businesses to resume investment and expansion, signaling the start of a “golden era” for the nation’s economy. The government is preparing a US$10 billion economic transformation programme to be detailed in the 2027 Budget.
This upcoming budget aims to transition the economy from a period of stability to one of transformation, focusing on production, exports, and job creation. Dr. Forson stated that the government intends to protect recent macroeconomic gains and work toward reducing the cost of capital to encourage corporate growth. He also urged industry leaders to assist in domestic revenue mobilization to decrease the country's reliance on borrowing.
Kofi Nsiah-Poku, President of the Association of Ghana Industries, acknowledged the recent economic improvements but emphasized that the focus must now shift toward driving growth and generating employment.
