Ghana President Mahama highlights progress of Big Push infrastructure programme
President John Dramani Mahama has commended Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza for his role in accelerating the ‘Big Push’ infrastructure programme. During an inspection of the Ntotroso Bridge in the Ahafo Region, Mahama noted that the minister’s oversight of contractors is helping the government meet its infrastructure delivery targets.
The President expressed optimism that most contracts awarded by the end of 2025 will be completed by the end of 2027. He also highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships, praising mining company Newmont for collaborating with the state on infrastructure and urging other large corporations to adopt similar cost-sharing models to benefit local communities.
Senior Presidential Advisor Joyce Bawah Mogtari further defended the administration’s development agenda, citing progress in healthcare through the National Health Insurance Scheme and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund. She also pointed to economic management efforts led by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, emphasizing a focus on fiscal responsibility and equitable development under the ‘Resetting Ghana’ initiative.
