Ghana President Mahama inaugurates 24‑Hour market projects in Accra and Juapong

Mayor Michael Kpakpo Allotey announced that construction of the Agbogbloshie 24‑Hour Market in Accra is about to begin. The government‑financed project will include a police post, clinic, pharmacy, daycare centre, banks, warehouses, cold stores, restaurants, a food court, a supermarket, poultry facilities and other amenities to provide traders with a safe, organized, round‑the‑clock trading environment. President John Dramani Mahama endorsed the initiative as part of his 24‑Hour Economy agenda and urged traders to cooperate with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly on design and facility needs.

In a separate ceremony in the Volta Region, President Mahama cut the sod for the Juapong 24‑Hour Economy Model Market, a Category Four market slated to become a major commercial hub. The Juapong project is expected to offer storage, processing, packaging, digital commerce and financial services for traders, farmers and small businesses, further expanding the government's modern market programme.
