Ghana President Mahama launches 1,238-acre Afienya Industrial Park

President John Dramani Mahama has officially commenced construction of the 1,238-acre Afienya Industrial Park in Ghana. The project aims to expand the nation’s manufacturing capacity, attract new investments, and create employment opportunities following the exhaustion of available space at the Tema Export Processing Zone.

The industrial park is designed to accommodate over 120 enterprises, providing essential infrastructure such as electricity, water supply, road networks, and waste treatment systems. To support this development, the President disclosed a proposed $10-billion New Economy Programme intended to fund infrastructure and strengthen domestic manufacturing to reduce import dependence.

Following the sod-cutting ceremony, President Mahama toured several existing facilities, including the Bright International Industrial Zone and the Tema Free Zones Enclave. His tour included visits to companies specializing in truck and fuel tanker assembly, solar panel and battery production, garment manufacturing, and barge production for Volta Lake.
