Ghana President reorganizes National Security Council Secretariat
President John Dramani Mahama has approved a major reorganization of the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) in Ghana. The structural changes, announced on August 11, 2026, aim to improve intelligence coordination, eliminate administrative bottlenecks, and enhance proactive security measures for national borders and local communities.
Key appointments include retired Major General William Ayamdo, former Chief of Army Staff, as the Deputy National Security Coordinator in charge of Operations. Yaw Donkor, a former National Security Coordinator, has been reassigned as the Director of Intelligence and Research within the Office of the National Security Advisor.
Other leadership changes include Adamu Saaka as Director of Logistics and Transport, Faustina Effah-Boadi as Officer in Charge of the Human Security Department, and retired DCOP Peter Ndekugri as Officer in Charge of the Special Investigations Unit. Additionally, ACP Alhassan Osman has been reassigned back to the Ghana Police Service command structure.
