Ghana rolls out $200 M seismic data program and unveils $20 bn petroleum hub to lure investors
Ghana’s Petroleum Commission chief executive Emeafa Hardcastle announced a US$200 million multi‑client 3D seismic acquisition covering roughly 35,900 sq km of the Tano‑Cape Three Points, Accra‑Keta, Saltpond and Voltaian basins. The data drive, combined with the AOW Energy platform, is intended to de‑risk offshore and onshore prospects, shorten exploration cycles and attract new exploration and production investors. AOW Energy will host free data rooms and investor meetings in September 2026, positioning Accra as a regional convergence point.
At the Global Energy Show in Calgary, Petroleum Hub Development Corporation CEO Dr Toni Aubynn presented Ghana’s 20,000‑acre Petroleum Hub in Jomoro, featuring three refineries (900,000 bpd total), five petrochemical plants, extensive storage and dedicated jetties. The hub is projected to lift Ghana’s GDP by about 70 % and generate roughly $1.56 billion in export tax revenue by 2030, while creating up to 780,000 direct and indirect jobs. The project is backed by a transparent regulatory framework designed to protect foreign capital and align with ESG standards.
