Ghana sports authorities review stadium hosting requests

The National Sports Authority (NSA) of Ghana is managing multiple requests regarding the use of national sports facilities. Niger has officially requested to use the Accra Sports Stadium as its host venue for upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, following strict facility standards set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Simultaneously, Asante Kotoko has submitted a proposal to the NSA to rent the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the entire 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season. The club seeks to move from match-by-match arrangements to a season-long agreement that would grant them greater control over matchday operations and revenue.

NSA Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah noted that the authority is working to ensure stadium pitches are maintained to international standards, especially as Ghana's own national youth teams are also scheduled to play competitive fixtures at home.
