Ghana to monitor US$10bn New Economy programme via NDPC

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) will monitor and assess the implementation of the government’s US$10 billion New Economy programme. During an engagement with NDPC leadership, including Chairman Dr. Nii Moi Thompson, Forson emphasized that the commission’s role is vital for tracking progress as the initiative moves from planning to execution.

The New Economy programme, which President John Dramani Mahama has confirmed involves a US$10 billion investment in key sectors, aims to shift the focus from economic stabilization to active transformation. The goal is to increase production, create jobs, and generate wealth based on domestic production.

Full details regarding the allocation of these investments and the specific plans for economic transformation are expected to be unveiled during the presentation of the 2027 Budget in November.
