Ghana to raise petrol, diesel and LPG prices from August 1

The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) projects that, starting 1 August 2026, Ghana will see fuel prices rise by about 7.6 % for petrol, 12.5 % for diesel and 4.1 % for LPG. The National Petroleum Authority has set new price floors of GH¢14.53 per litre for petrol, GH¢16.97 for diesel and GH¢11.06 per kilogram for LPG. COMAC attributes the hikes to a 23 % jump in global crude oil prices, driven by the ongoing United States‑Iran conflict and supply‑risk concerns in the Strait of Hormuz, together with a 1.4 % depreciation of the Ghana cedi against the US dollar. Higher fuel costs are expected to lift transportation and production expenses, prompting possible fare increases and adding pressure to household budgets.
