Ghana to recruit 16,500 health professionals in 2026

The Ghanaian government has announced plans to recruit 16,500 health professionals in 2026 to address staffing gaps and improve healthcare delivery. Deputy Chief of Staff Nana Oye Bampoe Addo stated that financial clearance has been secured to ensure that newly employed workers receive timely payment.

The recruitment initiative aims to combat challenges such as unemployment among trained professionals and the migration of skilled workers. While increasing recruitment is a priority, officials noted that long-term retention requires improving working environments, including better housing, security, transportation, and workplace culture.
