The Ghana Tourism Report 2025 reveals that the country recorded 1.79 million visits to 55 tourist sites in 2025, marking a 7 per cent increase from the previous year. Domestic tourism remains the primary driver of the sector, with residents accounting for 84 per cent of all visits.
International arrivals saw a marginal increase of 1.4 per cent, totaling 1,306,962 visitors. While international guests stayed for an average of approximately 13 nights, the average expenditure per international visitor dropped from US$3,742.98 in 2024 to US$3,319.90 in 2025. The report emphasizes the need to attract higher-spending visitors and develop premium experiences to ensure revenue growth.
Tourism activity was largely concentrated in the Greater Accra, Central, Ashanti, and Eastern regions. The top 10 tourist sites accounted for 77 per cent of all visits, with the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park noted as a significant location.
