Ghana U17 teams secure wins and prepare for regional championships

Ghana’s U17 national team, the Black Starlets, secured a 2-0 victory against Morocco in the first of two scheduled international friendly matches. The encounter took place at the King Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat.

Hope Agbasi opened the scoring for Ghana in the 24th minute following a cross from Yaw Acheampong. The lead was doubled in the second half when Alidu Issah converted a penalty after Acheampong was fouled inside the area. The victory serves as preparation for the upcoming WAFU Zone B U17 Championship, which acts as a qualifying tournament for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

In a separate competition, Ghana’s Black Maidens are preparing for a crucial WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup match against Côte d’Ivoire. Coach Joe Nana Adarkwa noted the physical strength of the Ivorian side and the challenge of playing against a home crowd, stating the team is focused on securing a win to maintain control over their tournament progression.
