Ghanaian Roads Minister orders acceleration of Tema road projects
Ghanaian Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has issued directives to contractors to accelerate work on key road projects in the Greater Accra Region.
Regarding the 19.5-kilometre Tema Roundabout to Tetteh Quarshie Interchange project, Agbodza instructed Maripoma Enterprise Limited to implement day and night operations. The Minister noted that while the project has advanced by approximately 10 percent and a main bridge was completed ahead of schedule, continuous work is necessary to minimize disruption on the busy corridor. He suggested that more disruptive activities be moved to nighttime to align with the government’s 24-hour economy initiative.
Separately, the Minister expressed frustration over the slow progress of the 17-kilometre Tema-Aflao Road. Following an inspection, Agbodza directed contractors First Sky Construction and BHM to increase activity, noting that little progress had been observed in the four months since his last visit. Representatives from First Sky Construction stated that the work programme had been adjusted to address the need for continuous road raising to manage traffic situations.
