Ghana's IERPP demands accountability for $4bn 24-Hour Economy programme

The Institute of Economic Research and Public Policy (IERPP) has challenged the administration of President John Dramani Mahama to account for the results of its $4 billion 24-Hour Economy programme. Executive Director Professor Isaac Boadi stated that the government must provide verifiable evidence regarding funds disbursed, projects implemented, and jobs created before proceeding with a proposed $10 billion New Economy initiative.

Prof. Boadi noted that while the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme (24H+) was launched in July 2025 with targets including the creation of 1.7 million jobs, the government has failed to provide specific employment figures. He cited reports indicating that the programme's secretariat could not provide a total number of jobs created, which he argued undermines public confidence in the government's ability to manage national resources and deliver on economic promises.
