Ghana's New Patriotic Party Reshuffles Committees Ahead of 2028 Election

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) of Ghana reconstituted its Standing and Sector Committees on May 7, following its defeat in the 2024 elections and to prepare for the 2028 general election. The National Executive Committee and National Council appointed former officials to lead key areas: Fred Oware chairs the Finance Committee, Owen Kwame Frimpong Bonsu Amoah heads the Electoral Affairs Committee, Kwaku Amoako‑Atta leads the Disciplinary Committee, and Kojo Oppong Nkrumah heads the Policy Committee. Additional chairs include Anthony Abayifa Karbo (Organisational), Kingsley Nyarko (Research), and Nana Akomea (Communications).

In a related move, the party appointed all four presidential aspirants from its January 2026 primary as co‑chairmen of newly created policy committees, a step described as an effort to promote unity within the NPP as it gears up for the 2028 electoral contest.
