Ghana's NPP faces internal leadership disputes in Ashanti Region

In the Bantama constituency of the Ashanti Region, local New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates accuse MP Francis Asenso‑Boakye, the First Vice Chairman and the Constituency Youth Organizer of removing names from the party's polling‑station album. Constituency Chairman Fiifi Mensah seized the album and secured it in his office, prompting the Suntreso District Police to intervene to prevent a clash.

Separately, Dr. Francis Adomako, the Ashanti Regional Organiser of the NPP, called for formal recognition of the party's Council of Elders and Founding Members and announced his bid for the position of Ashanti Regional Secretary. He argued that honoring elders and leveraging his eight‑year organisational experience are essential for the party’s success in the upcoming 2028 general elections.
