GHIB CEO Ian Greenstreet vows backing for Ghanaian exporters

Ian Greenstreet, chief executive of Ghana International Bank (GHIB), spent ten days in Ghana during his first month in office to meet entrepreneurs, manufacturers, exporters and state‑owned enterprises. He toured factories, warehouses, ports and processing facilities, noting that many Ghanaian products are already competing with, and sometimes outperforming, American, European and Chinese goods in international markets.

Greenstreet said GHIB will move beyond trade financing to become a partner that provides the banking services, trade finance and capital needed for Ghanaian businesses to expand globally. He discussed the need for long‑term capital with Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Minister Elizabeth Ofosu‑Adjare, highlighting challenges in preparing projects to meet global financing standards. Since its founding in 1959, GHIB has acted as a bridge between Ghana and world financial markets, and Greenstreet reaffirmed that role as essential for the country’s future growth.
