Gia Lai authorities disclose transport provider details following overcharging incident
The Gia Lai Department of Construction has released detailed information regarding passenger transport services in the province to ensure transparency for residents and tourists. The disclosure includes data for 19 taxi companies, 17 electronic contract transport units, and 3 four-wheel electric vehicle operators.
Publicly available details include company names, addresses, phone numbers, and uniforms. Taxi services must also disclose opening fares, rates per kilometer, vehicle types, and booking applications, while electronic contract units must specify their booking apps.
This regulatory move follows an incident on August 30 where a passenger reported being charged 70,000 VND for a approximately 2km trip. In response, authorities held an emergency meeting demanding that all transport providers strictly adhere to declared and listed fares, prohibiting unauthorized price increases or additional fees, particularly during holidays or high-demand periods.
