Gia Lai authorities investigate transport overcharging in Quy Nhon

The Gia Lai Department of Construction held an emergency meeting to address reports of excessive passenger fares in the Quy Nhon area. The investigation was triggered by a tourist who reported paying approximately 70,000 to 75,000 VND for a trip of only about 2 kilometers.

Authorities identified the vehicle as a contract car operated by the ASIA Quy Nhon Transport Cooperative. Verification of the digital application showed that the actual fare for a 4-seater electric vehicle should have been around 43,000 VND, and approximately 51,000 VND for a 6-seater. The driver admitted to collecting a fare significantly higher than the amount displayed on the app.

The department noted that the driver and the cooperative failed to provide full contract information, including the price, which may violate Decree No. 158/2024/NĐ-CP. Both the driver and the director of the ASIA Quy Nhon Transport Cooperative issued public apologies. Nguyen Truong Son, Director of the Gia Lai Department of Construction, criticized the cooperative's management and ordered all local transport businesses to strictly adhere to fare declarations and regulations to protect the city's tourism image.
