Gia Lai breaks ground on 27,576 billion VND Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway section

The Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee has officially broken ground on component project 2 of the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway. This 68km section represents the largest and most technically complex part of the total 125km expressway project, which has a total investment of 43,734 billion VND.

Component project 2 involves an investment of approximately 27,576 billion VND. Due to the difficult terrain of the Central Highlands, the project includes significant engineering feats, such as the 2.8km An Khe tunnel and the Mang Yang tunnel. It also features the Ha Tam and Ba La 2 bridges, which possess piers approximately 100m high—noted as the tallest bridge piers currently in Vietnam.

Deputy Minister of Construction Lê Anh Tuấn emphasized that the expressway will form a vital part of the infrastructure framework in the Central Highlands and serve as an East-West corridor. The project is expected to facilitate socio-economic development and national defense while acting as a maritime gateway for the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam development triangle.
