Efforts are being intensified to stabilize the route ahead of the 2026 rainy season. By August 31, 2026, the La Son - Hoa Lien Expressway completed its first phase of expansion. The 65km route now allows regular traffic on the completed four-lane sections, though a temporary maximum speed limit of 60 km/h is in effect. In landslide-prone areas, speeds are further reduced to 30 km/h. While the expansion is operational, work continues on rest stops, intelligent transport systems, and landslide treatment, with full official operation expected by the end of 2026. Currently, trucks with six or more axles and passenger vehicles with nine or more seats are prohibited from using the expressway and must use designated detours. Simultaneously, construction has commenced on a significant section of the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway in Gia Lai province.
