Gia Lai hosts workshop on promoting tourism through film and culinary culture

The Vietnam Culinary Culture Association and the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee held a workshop on October 17 to discuss how cinema, television, and short videos can leverage culinary culture to promote tourism. The event was part of the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026.

Experts and filmmakers discussed strategies to transform culinary heritage into creative content and sustainable tourism drivers. Key topics included elevating Vietnamese cuisine on digital platforms through emotional storytelling, enhancing the skills of food stylists and filmmakers, and building cooperation between artisans and F&B businesses to protect cultural authenticity.

Proposed creative products include culinary maps, film and food tours, and creator trips linked to raw material regions. A pilot model titled ‘Taste of Gia Lai’ was suggested, alongside metrics to measure actual tourism effectiveness. Dang Tran Cuong, Director of the Cinema Department, emphasized that cinema has the unique power to turn unknown locations and foods into highly sought-after destinations by connecting community stories to a global audience.
