Gia Lai traffic police investigated after alleged beating of violator
In Hoài Ân commune, Gia Lai province, Vietnam, traffic police (CSGT) chased an electric‑bike rider on 16 July after a report that the rider was not wearing a helmet. Social‑media footage later showed a 22‑second clip of the police vehicle pursuing the rider, and a longer livestream captured the rider with multiple red marks on his back, leading the public to accuse the officers of beating him.
Provincial authorities responded by summoning the two involved officers for questioning. The Gia Lai police have ordered the Criminal Police, Cybersecurity, and High‑Tech Crime units to cooperate with the Traffic Police in a joint investigation. The provincial police chief said that any confirmed misconduct by traffic officers during duty will be strictly punished without cover‑up.
The case has drawn significant local public attention and prompted calls for transparency and accountability within the provincial police force.
