FIFA President Gianni Infantino proposed the creation of a new commercial entity, FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), valued at roughly US$20 billion. The plan would have sold about 20 % of the entity – up to US$4.2 billion – to private investors, including a fund led by Joshua Kushner and advisory work by JPMorgan and Greg Maffei.

The proposal was leaked before an official launch and triggered a unified rejection from UEFA’s 55 member associations and from CONCACAF, whose president Victor Montagliani and the Costa Rican federation publicly opposed the scheme. UEFA sent a formal letter threatening legal action and demanding that FIFA preserve all related documents, warning that any destruction could be deemed spoliation of evidence.

British Labour leader Andy Burnham added political pressure, stating that Infantino “is not the right person” to lead FIFA. Under the combined pressure of UEFA, CONCACAF, and political critics, Infantino withdrew the FFE plan, but the controversy has sparked calls for a leadership challenge within FIFA.
