Makis Gagatsis discusses Giannis Konstantelias's national team status

Makis Gagatsis, President of the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO), has addressed the recent absence of Giannis Konstantelias from the Greece national football team. Gagatsis stated that the 23-year-old midfielder chose to step away from upcoming Nations League call-ups due to personal and family reasons, specifically citing the pregnancy of his wife.

Gagatsis emphasized that while the federation is working to facilitate his return to the national squad, the final decision rests with the player. He noted that the door remains “open at any moment” once Konstantelias feels ready.

Regarding Konstantelias's recent transfer to Borussia Dortmund, Gagatsis described the move as a “natural evolution” for a player of his talent, suggesting that his skill level would eventually lead him to top European clubs. He acknowledged the mixed emotions among fans regarding the player's departure from Greek football.
