GİBTÜ hosts academic solidarity program for Gaza and Palestine

Gaziantep Islam Science and Technology University (GİBTÜ) hosted a program titled ‘From Gaziantep to Gaza: Science, Solidarity, and a Shared Future.’ The event focused on the future of higher education in Gaza and Palestine, exploring international academic solidarity, university collaborations, and joint research opportunities.

The program addressed the specific challenges faced by higher education institutions in Gaza and Palestine and discussed ways to ensure the sustainability of academic life. Participants included the President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, who attended online, alongside Palestinian Minister of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Amjad Barham and various university rectors from Gaza and Palestine.

Local officials, including Gaziantep Governor Kemal Çeber and Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin, emphasized Turkey’s sensitivity toward the Palestinian cause. Çeber noted that the nation remains steadfast in its support for Gaza, while Şahin stated that defending the rights of Gaza is equivalent to defending human values and the right to humanity.
