Turkish academic solidarity for Gaza and Palestine

Overview

Turkish academic institutions have organized forums to address the humanitarian crisis and the future of higher education in Gaza and Palestine.

In early September 2026, Gaziantep Islam Science and Technology University hosted a program titled ‘From Gaziantep to Gaza: Science, Solidarity, and a Shared Future.’ The event brought together Palestinian officials and Turkish leaders to discuss international academic solidarity, university collaborations, and the sustainability of academic life in the region.

Following this, Düzce University held the second ‘Science Cafe for Gaza’ event, titled ‘Maintaining Hope in Difficult Times: Gaza and Humanity.’ This initiative, launched by the Council of Higher Education, featured testimonies from Gazan students regarding the lack of electricity, food, and water. Speakers at the forum highlighted the humanitarian crisis and the historical ties between Turkey and Gaza.
