GIIAS 2026 auto show drives EV launches, incentives and market trends in Indonesia

The Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 showcased a wave of new electric and hybrid models. BYD introduced the M6 EV with a claimed 450 km range and the Dual‑Mode (DM) version, which the company says can cut energy costs by up to 60 % versus conventional ICE vehicles. Mitsubishi demonstrated its New Xforce HEV completing a 1,172 km single‑tank challenge from Jakarta to Bali. Leapmotor launched the C10 family‑size electric SUV, touting a 478 km NEDC range.

Personalisation and interactive experiences were highlighted, with Jetour’s “Adventure Passport” booth and OLXmobbi acting as the official trade‑in partner, offering cash‑back of up to Rp35 million. The show also featured a premium Audi SUV teaser and a racing‑style Geely Coolray.

The Indonesian government signalled further market support: Finance Minister Purbaya announced upcoming incentives for roughly 500 000 electric motorcycles and cars, and urged Toyota to relocate its Thai factory to Indonesia with added incentives. These developments underscore a growing focus on electric mobility, new model roll‑outs and policy backing within Indonesia’s automotive sector.
