Gijón plans to expand Noche de los Fuegos fireworks with sea launch points

The city of Gijón is studying a redesign of its annual Noche de los Fuegos fireworks display. Officials intend to keep the Cerro de Santa Catalina as the central launch site while adding up to two additional points from the sea, creating a synchronized three‑point firing system. The plan, prepared by the public company Divertia, aims to broaden creative possibilities and offer a more spectacular experience for residents and visitors.

The proposal is pending safety authorisations from the Guardia Civil and the maritime captaincy, and a full technical design will be presented next week. It follows a similar attempt last summer that was halted after coastal authorities denied the necessary permits.
