Gillot SAS recalls Camembert cheeses due to E. coli contamination

The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) has issued an urgent warning regarding the recall of specific Camembert cheeses produced by the French company Gillot SAS. The products have been found to contain Escherichia coli (E. coli), which can produce Shiga toxin (STEC).

The recall affects two specific products from batch 232511:

1. Le Petit Cru Camembert au lait cru (250g), with an expiration date of 17.10.2026. 2. Camembert Bertrand Crémier (250g), with an expiration date of 21.10.2026.

Consumers are advised not to consume these products. Symptoms of E. coli infection typically appear 3–4 days after consumption and may include acute watery diarrhea (sometimes bloody), nausea, vomiting, severe abdominal pain, and fever. Individuals experiencing these symptoms after consuming the recalled items should contact a physician immediately.
