Gillot SAS Camembert E. coli recall

Overview

Health authorities in several European countries, including France, Poland, and Hungary, issued urgent warnings and product recalls for specific batches of Camembert cheese manufactured by the French company Gillot SAS. The recall was prompted by contamination with Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC).

The affected products are 250g packages of Le Petit Cru Camembert au lait cru (expiration date October 17, 2026) and Camembert Bertrand Crémier au lait cru (expiration date October 21, 2026), both from batch number 232511.

Medical warnings indicate that STEC infection can cause severe gastrointestinal issues, such as nausea, vomiting, fever, and bloody diarrhea. Vulnerable groups, including infants, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems, face a high risk of serious illness like colitis. Consumers are advised not to consume the specified products and to contact a physician if symptoms occur.
