Giorgos Bogris addresses basketball match-fixing scandal
Former basketball player Giorgos Bogris has responded to revelations regarding the ‘BasketGate’ scandal, specifically concerning his departure from the Greek club Promitheas Patras in 2019. Bogris described the period as a “continuous war,” alleging that there was a concerted effort to force him out of the team through psychological pressure and bullying.
Bogris detailed how, during his final month with the club, he was excluded from team practices and sent to train alone in the weight room, despite still receiving limited playing time during matches. He also addressed claims regarding an unjustified technical foul received during a game against AEK in 2019, noting that a member of the officiating crew was Papapetrou.
In a social media post, Bogris expressed his support for Panagiotis Fasoulas, a candidate in the recent Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK) elections, praising his vision and expertise. Bogris characterized his recent vindication as a psychological relief, noting that even those in his inner circle had previously doubted his accounts of the events.
