High-profile figures facing charges include EOK President Vangelis Liolios, businessman Georgos Mavraganis, and referees Ilias Koromilas, Vaso Tsarouha, Petros Papapetrou, and Tasos Piloidis.

Recent judicial developments have seen Liolios and Mavraganis ordered into pretrial detention. Liolios has since resigned, and Angelos Papanikolaou has been elected as the new EOK president. Liolios has denied all charges, claiming the investigation is a ‘methodical conspiracy’ orchestrated by Panathinaikos BC and other club presidents. The Greek Ministry of Sports has suspended state funding to the EOK pending administrative audits.

Referee Ilias Koromilas has appeared before investigators to deny nine counts of bribery, asserting that 102,000 euros in cash seized at his home was part of 263,000 euros in legitimate compensation from his international refereeing career. His defense maintains the case lacks sufficient evidence, noting a previous complaint regarding a bribe attempt in 2021 had been archived.
