Giovanna Lancellotti to star in Carmen Miranda biopic

Actress Giovanna Lancellotti will star as the iconic Carmen Miranda in an upcoming biographical film directed by Esmir Filho. The project, which Lancellotti is also producing through GL Filmes, aims to depict the life and career of the legendary Hollywood star.

Filming is scheduled to take place in the second half of 2027 across Brazil—specifically in Rio de Janeiro, Maricá, and Petrópolis—and in the United States, including New York. The film is slated for a commercial release in 2028.

Lancellotti has been undergoing intensive preparation for the role for two years, involving rigorous artistic, physical, and musical training. The production is a collaborative effort involving Ananã Produções, Producing Partners, GL Filmes, and H2O Produções, with H2O Films handling Brazilian distribution.
