Carmen Miranda biopic production

Overview

Actress Giovanna Lancellotti has been announced as the lead in ‘Carmen’, a biographical film about the Brazilian singer and Hollywood star Carmen Miranda. Directed by Esmir Filho, the project is being produced by Lancellotti through her company, GL Filmes, in collaboration with several domestic and international partners, including Ananã Produções, Producing Partners, and H2O Produções.

Lancellotti replaces Larissa Manoela, who left the project in August due to scheduling conflicts. To prepare for the role, Lancellotti has undergone intensive vocal, physical, and choreographic training since 2021.

The production is scheduled to begin filming in the second half of 2027. Filming locations will include Rio de Janeiro, Petrópolis, and Maricá in Brazil, as well as New York in the United States. The film is expected to be released in 2028.
