Giovanni Nicelli Airport celebrates centenary with exhibition

The Giovanni Nicelli Airport in San Nicolò al Lido is celebrating its centenary. To mark the occasion, an exhibition titled ‘Cent’anni di aviazione. Aeroporto Nicelli 1926-2026’ is on display in the airport's main hall throughout September. Curated by Vittorio Baroni, the twelve-panel exhibit traces the airport's history from its early pioneers and first civil routes to its wartime years and modern role.

In addition to the anniversary, the airport has been named a candidate for the FAI ‘Luoghi del Cuore 2026’ awards. Supporters can vote for the site on the Fondo per l’Ambiente website to help preserve its historical and architectural heritage.
