Giovanni Veronesi presents ‘Dio ride’ in Florence

Director Giovanni Veronesi presented his new film, ‘Dio ride’, at Palazzo Strozzi Sacrati in Florence. The film, which served as the closing event for the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, was shot over six weeks across various Tuscan provinces, including Pisa, Siena, and Pistoia.

The production received a 250,000 euro contribution from the Tuscany Region’s 2024 Cinema and Audiovisual Grant. Regional President Eugenio Giani and Culture Councilor Cristina Manetti attended the presentation, highlighting the film as a tool for promoting the territory and generating local economic and employment benefits.

Set in the 17th century, the film explores themes of freedom of thought and expression against authoritarianism. The cast includes Pierfrancesco Favino, Silvio Orlando, Maurizio Lombardi, and Carlo Cecchi. ‘Dio ride’ is scheduled for theatrical release in Italy on October 29 via Piperfilm.
